Tour an Ironworker Training Center 

Date: Tuesday, March 22
Time: Noon - 4:30 p.m. 
Cost: $5 (all proceeds are donated to the AISC Education Foundation)

Have you ever wondered how apprentice ironworkers are trained? One of the best training centers in the country is located just 15-minutes from downtown Denver and a limited number of NASCC attendees have the opportunity to see the Denver Ironworker Training Center firsthand! The tour includes hands-on demonstrations of welding, burning, rigging, and column-climbing. (Box lunch included.)

Tour the Intsel Steel Service Center

Time: 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. | 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. | 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

If you’ve never seen a modern steel service center/warehouse, you’re in for a treat! See 20,000 tons of steel in one place. Intsel’s facility features one of the nation’s largest automated material handling systems. The facility also provides pre-processing of plate and beams.

Notes: Drinks/snacks will be provided, shuttles depart from the convention center, 1-2 hour roundtrip transfer, depending on traffic.

Lab Tour: CPP Wind Engineering Laboratory 

Date: Tuesday, March 22
Time: 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (2-hour roundtrip transfer and 2-hour tour)

Have you ever wondered what goes on in a wind lab? CPP Wind Engineering has one of the most advanced structural wind labs in the country and you're invited to visit! When you know how wind affects our world, your buildings can be safer, more comfortable, and more efficient. You'll be able to see first-hand how the advanced lab provides wind tunnel testing to determine everything from vortex shedding to wind-induced noise.

Student Steel Bridge Competition Demonstration and Alumni Reunion

Date: Wednesday, March 23
Time: 5:30 p.m. - 6: 30 p.m. during the Welcome Reception
Location: Exhibit Hall

Did you know that annually, students at nearly 200 universities across the nation get hands-on, practical experience by participating in AISC's Student Steel Bridge Competition? Join us Wednesday in the exhibit hall on our mock competition floor to see real competition bridges produced via thousands of hours of design, fabrication, and practice assembly. Meet some of this year's participants and get a firsthand look at a program that's been engaging students since 1987! Additionally, SSBC alumni will have the opportunity to connect and reminisce about past competition experiences.

The Steel Conference Welcome Reception is a great way to kick off the conference and get a special preview of what exhibitors will offer at the show. Stroll through the aisles and experience the industry's latest trends in structural software, coatings, connection products and more! Live demonstrations from equipment manufacturers will be ongoing. Mingle with your peers while you enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres and the excitement of the exhibit hall.

Go out on the town in the Mile-High City! We’re taking over the Ballpark district for the evening. Sample local fare and specialty cocktails at local hot spots Whiskey Row, Smash Face Brewery, Loaded, and El Tejano while exploring the neighborhood’s original industrial architecture--and you’ll find some surprises, like local bands, VR experiences, and games along the way!
